Tesla is set to enter into a five-year research partnership with lithium-ion battery pioneer, Dr. Jeff Dahn from Canada’s Dalhousie University.
The electric vehicle and energy storage system company signed the agreement with the university which focuses on advanced materials and clean technology research.
The exclusive partnership is due to begin in June 2016 as it’s partnership with 3M Canada and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada ends.
Dahn is developing lithium-ion batteries that improve lifetime, increase energy density and reduce cost, said Martha Crago, Vice-President, Research at Dalhousie.
Dahn has 25 researchers in his laboratory, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and technical staff.
