Trina Storage has completed delivery of what it describes as the first European project using its Elementa Electra integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) platform, marking a milestone for both the company and Romania’s rapidly expanding energy storage sector.
The project, located in Giurgiu, Romania, is the first commercial deployment in Europe of Trina Storage’s AC-coupled Elementa Electra solution, which was launched in late 2025 as a fully integrated battery-to-grid platform for utility-scale energy storage applications.
According to the company, Elementa Electra combines battery storage, power conversion equipment and medium-voltage infrastructure within a single integrated solution designed to simplify deployment and accelerate grid connection. The company said the platform can reduce land requirements by up to 52%, cut on-site commissioning time by more than 50% and shorten overall project delivery schedules by more than 30%.
The delivery builds on Trina Storage’s growing presence in Romania. In 2025, the company entered the Romanian market through a 65MWh battery energy storage project at TopliČ›a, supplying its Elementa 2 system as part of a project developed with Allview and Renovatio. The company has since identified Eastern Europe as a key growth market for utility-scale storage.
Romania has emerged as one of the most active battery storage markets in Central and Eastern Europe, supported by funding from the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan and regulatory reforms intended to encourage energy storage deployment. Several large-scale projects are currently under development, with the government targeting substantial growth in storage capacity to support renewable energy integration and grid stability.
Trina Storage, part of Trina Solar, entered the BESS market in 2020
Trina Storage said the project demonstrates growing demand for integrated BESS solutions that combine battery technology with AC-side infrastructure and project delivery services. The company reported earlier this year that it had secured more than 65 projects across Europe since entering the market in 2020, representing a cumulative project volume of 6GWh. Global BESS shipments exceeded 20GWh by the end of 2025.
“The successful delivery of the Gamma project represents another important milestone for Trina Storage in Europe,” said Gabriele Buccini, head of Trina Storage Europe. “As energy storage markets continue to expand across Europe, we are seeing growing demand for integrated Cell-to-AC and bankable storage solutions capable of supporting long-term grid flexibility and renewable integration.”
“LSG selected Trina Storage for this landmark project as part of its broader commitment to advancing reliable and future-oriented energy infrastructure in the region,” said Gerhard Lipkovich, CEO of LSG Building Solutions, Romania. “The collaboration will help support renewable energy integration while contributing to greater grid resilience and long-term energy transition objectives.”
Financial details of the newly completed project were not disclosed.
