The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) has appointed Ian Whiting to the post of commercial director.
Whiting is responsible for business development, sales, marketing and procurement, and will also sit on UKBIC’s executive committee at the soon to be completed battery production development facility near Coventry, UK.
Whiting said he looked forward to accelerating the introduction and adoption of electrified technology.
He has previously worked for brands including: AMTE Power, Ricardo and QinetiQ and was most recently a freelance battery technology consultant.
UKBIC is a £130 million ($175 million) 18,500 square metre facility that will provide a link between battery technologies that have proved promising at laboratory or prototype scale, and successful mass production.
Based in Coventry, the publicly-funded battery product development facility welcomes manufacturers, entrepreneurs, researchers and educators, and can be accessed by any organisation with existing or new battery technology – if that technology will bring green jobs and prosperity to the UK.
