The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) has appointed John Poli as its manufacturing operations director to oversee the facility’s manufacturing capability.
Poli ran his own engineering consultancy, specialising in manufacturing engineering before joining UKBIC.
Before that he was at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) for 30 years, where he was responsible for global engine, electric drive and battery manufacturing in his role as power train manufacturing engineering director.
At JLR, he led the team that created production systems and advanced technologies to enable electric propulsion.
UKBIC is a £130 million ($163 million), 20,000 square metre battery manufacturing development facility that provides a link between battery technology, which has proved promising at laboratory or prototype scale, and successful mass production.
The facility was opened in 2021 in Coventry, UK.
