UKBIC’s Introduction to Battery Manufacturing course has now received formal approval from EAL, the specialist awarding body for engineering and manufacturing qualifications.
First launched in March 2024, the programme offers a detailed grounding in how modern batteries are developed and produced, supported by direct access to UKBIC’s full Giga‑scale manufacturing facility.
The course is aimed at anyone looking to build a solid understanding of end‑to‑end battery production processes and serves as a pathway into UKBIC’s more advanced training options. Delegates gain insight into real industrial equipment, production lines and laboratories—experience rarely available outside commercial gigafactories.
Valentina Gentili, Director of the Battery Innovation Programme, said: “Developing people is a personal passion of mine… I am pleased it has joined the wider suite of skills interventions the Battery Innovation Programme funds.”
Jonty Deeley‑Williamson, UKBIC’s Head of L&D, highlighted the course’s unique position in the sector, noting: “Our Introduction to Battery Manufacturing course – the first of its kind in the industry – has proved hugely popular… it remains the only programme of its type delivered within a full‑scale battery manufacturing environment.”
EAL’s Rob Stott added that candidates benefit from working with “real, production scale battery manufacturing equipment, rather than classroom simulations or pilot rigs.”
UKBIC also offers deep‑dive modules covering areas such as Module and Pack, Formation, Ageing and Testing, Cell Assembly and Electrode Manufacture, alongside tailored programmes for organisations. The course complements UKBIC’s wider training portfolio, including the EAL Level 2 Award in Introduction to Battery Manufacturing and the Battery Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship.
Dates for the 2026 courses are 16–17 March and 13–14 April, with more to follow.
