Testing company UL Solutions announced the acquisition of BatterieIngenieure, a German battery testing company.
It specialises in performance testing of cells, small modules and battery systems used in EVs and other applications.
UL said the acquisition provides it with a testing laboratory in Europe. BatterieIngenieure provides comprehensive testing, simulation and failure analysis of battery technologies. Its expertise is estimating in battery life expectancy, according to UL. It employs more than 50 people, including battery researchers.
It has an office in Bilbao, Spain, and is building a larger laboratory in Aachen to replace the existing facility.
Jennifer Scanlon, president and CEO of UL Solutions, said: “The global transition to sustainable energy has increased demand for expertise in battery performance and safety testing.”
Financial details were not disclosed.
