The US Battery Machine Builders coalition launched on Tuesday. It gathers domestic battery machine and equipment manufacturers. It said it aims to increase awareness of the American-made battery machinery supply chain and encourage battery facilities to buy American-made products.
Founder members include furnace manufacturer Abbott Furnace, engineering company Bechtel, BW Papersystems, Charles Ross & Son Company and industrial automation business Siemens USA. The coalition said it united behind a common goal of supporting domestic manufacturing capability, and strengthening the building of machinery and machinist capacity.
It said investing in the machinery that builds batteries in the US – from extracting minerals to production of anode and cathode material and assembly of batteries, will encourage regional economic development, reduce dependency on foreign countries and protect national security.
Joseph Martorana, EVP of Charles Ross & Son, which makes mixers, said: “As an employee-owned company operating since 1842, we hope to ignite a sustainable future right here at home and encourage American battery facilities to buy American.”
