Eos Energy Storage is partnering with Holtec International on the commercialisation of Eos’ second-generation Aurora battery technology— a DC battery system employing the firm’s aqueous, zinc-based Znyth tech.
Holtec has acquired an unspecified “significant equity stake” for the strategic partnership, which will include setting up an automated manufacturing facility in the United States.
The partners will also establishing a subsidiary— Hi-Power— to create and operate their manufacturing capacity, initially in the US but with global intentions.
Holtec CEO and president Dr Kris Singh said: “Hi-Power hopes to build its first plant in Camden, New Jersey to fulfil a growing demand for energy storage using Eos’ innovative technology.”
Eos’ manufacturing process deploys automatic localised production lines, each capable of producing 400 megawatt-hours of the Gen2 Eos Aurora battery systems annually.
Last year, Eos began taking orders for its Aurora DC Battery System with forward pricing, which saw it become the first firm to accept orders below US$100 per kilowatt-hour for a complete DC battery system.
