U.S. Vanadium Holding Company LLC purchased a facility in the Americas that produces high-purity vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) from Evraz Stratcor, the US subsidiary of Evraz the company whose majority shareholder is Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
The facility, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, can produce V2O5 at high purity levels required by vanadium redox flow batteries.
Swiss company Flexbase is planning to build a 500MW/1.2GWh flow battery on the Swiss-German border. It is claiming it will be the biggest flow battery in the world.
