Power equipment manufacturer Cummins Power Generation has announced the release of its new web-based remote monitoring tool for backup power systems.
The PowerCommand 500/550 software will allow multiple users to monitor generator sets, transfer switches, sensors and output controls from any location, Cummins said. The tool can also start and stop generators and transfer switch tests, as well as reset and acknowledge faults remotely.
Users can monitor data from up to 150 nodes, including genset data such as annunciator, alternator and engine information, and transfer switch data such as source, load and switch connection status. Additional monitoring and controlling capabilities can be provided by expandable I/O modules.
The PowerCommand 500 can monitor and control two devices, for example one genset and one transfer switch in a typical standby power operation, while the PowerCommand 550 can monitor and control up to 12 on-site devices.
Both applications notify users of power system events as they happen, via an email or text message. The software also collects and stores data logs, and its data logging capability can be expanded with a USB memory device or SD card.
The software is compatible with Cummins and third-party power generation equipment and is accessible from any PC or Mac computer, with point-and-click access to its functions.
The new tool will reduce the need for service calls and site visits, Cummins said.
