Independent tests of London based start-up Yunasko high-temperature ultracapacitor system may pave the way to new applications.
Yunasko’s ultracapacitors successfully passed endurance tests at +100°C for 2,000 hours in tests by JME, an independent US ultracapacitor evaluation service used by the US Air Force.
The ultracapacitor has an operating temperature range of between -25°C to +100°C, say Yunasko.
Test results determined the operating voltage ratings of Yunasko’s ultracapacitors as 2.39 at +100°C. The maximum operating voltage for the system is 3.0V at +25°C.
The system also boasts up to 25kW/kg at +25°C and up to 34 kW/kg +100°C, claims the company.
Yunasko is now looking for an industrial partner for collaborative product development and market adoption for applications from automotive, well drilling equipment, or hot climate contractors.
Dr. Natalia Stryzhakova, head of Yunasko R&D laboratory said: “We have been working on this challenging project for two years testing many electrolytes, and now we are happy to get a low cost ultracapacitor system capable of reliably working at temperatures as high as 100-110°C with excellent low-temperature performance.”
