Ace Green Recycling has entered into a battery recycling deal with Perth-based lead battery recycler Enecell (The Owens Group WA) to expand sustainable battery recycling in Australia.
The collaboration includes a 10-year master offtake deal under which Ace will purchase 100% of Enecell’s recycled lead material from its Perth facility. The agreement also covers future facility expansions, including lead refining, casting, alloying, and lithium battery processing.
Ace aims to distribute the recycled material through its global network and is also considering the installation of its zero-emissions GREENLEAD technology at the site. The two companies are also exploring the deployment of Ace’s LithiumFirst system for lithium battery recycling.
Together, Ace and Enecell intend to build a high-capacity, environmentally-friendly recycling operation, reducing reliance on hazardous battery exports and supporting a circular economy.
“Australia, similar to the US, has been implementing strict regulations for smelting lead and has shut down some smelters that do not meet such regulations, which, we believe, strategically positions Ace and Enecell to help meet the demand for lead by delivering a more sustainable recycling solution,” said Nishchay Chadha, CEO and Co-Founder of Ace.
“While lead recycling remains a key near-term growth driver for Ace, we believe that Australia’s position as the world’s top lithium producer presents significant long-term opportunities for lithium battery recycling in this market.”
