Flywheel UPS provider Active Power has unveiled an operational project for US information technology provider Comlink.
Comlink, a broadband, data centre and cloud services communications provider, selected Active Power’s CleanSource UPS platform for its new Grand Rapids, Michigan-based data centre. The facility opened its doors in late April 2013.
The project consists of a 600 kVA UPS system in a distributed redundant topology. Comlink deployed the UPS with fully redundant power generation and two independent distribution paths to the server cabinet level, as well as Active Power’s GenSTART, a battery-free starting module that provides an additional degree of availability to the multiple standby generator sets onsite.
The 9,000 square foot facility is completely encased in concrete and houses Comlink’s new Datasphere hosting and cloud business and Medisphere, a network solutions offering specifically tailored for Michigan based health care providers.
