Anode production for Alevo Energy’s utility-scale batteries has begun at its 3.5-million square-foot plant in Concord, US.
The North Carolina firm’s production line is housed in about a third of the plant’s 600,000-square-foot basement.
Once installed, the company’s cathode-production line will fill another third of the basement along with testing and other manufacturing equipment, including ovens.
The plant will manufacture the company’s Gridbank battery energy storage systems, which use Solith’s advanced lithium-ion battery formation.
A deadline for the first completed GridBank batteries to roll off the line has not yet been finalised.
