Perth-based vanadium supplier Australian Vanadium Ltd (AVL) welcomed Steve Banning as principal advisor and Dr Yifeng Li as product development manager for its 100% owned subsidiary company VSUN Energy Pty Ltd (VSUN).
The company intends to pursue growth initiatives in the vanadium flow battery (VFB) market via VSUN.
Banning has 25 years energy market experience having worked in advisory and executive roles for energy focused companies. He has a thorough knowledge of energy customer needs and has led delivery of complex energy products and energy supply agreements. Banning will lead deployment of strategies to commercialise and scale up VSUN’s long duration energy storage (LDES) solutions.
Li is an experienced VFB expert with strong economic and technical expertise in LDES. Coming from German energy company Voith Group, (where he focused on the integration of VFB modules into large-scale systems, performance improvement, cost reduction of VFBs and standardisation of vanadium electrolyte), Li brings his skills in developing VFB projects to accelerate AVL’s role in energy markets.
Graham Arvidson, AVL’s CEO, said: “We are really excited to welcome Steve Banning and Yifeng Li who will both play key roles in enabling AVL’s pit-to-battery value creation strategy”.
AVL supplies vanadium to steel and energy storage markets and sells VFB systems. It operates in Western Australia and South Africa.
