Albercorp, manufacturer of battery testing and monitoring equipment, has introduced a battery monitor for utility bulk power systems that predicts when a battery will fail so an operator can change the battery before a problem occurs. Called the UXIM (Universal Xplorer Industrial Monitor), it automates tasks required by the NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) to ensure compliance and maintain complete records of the tests.
It automates a maintenance programme with a complete battery monitoring system to give constant monitoring, thus extending intervals between maintenance.
The UXIM features DC resistance testing technology using embedded web software and battery detailed software, which allows for multiple remote communications and alarm options.
No on-site computer is required to collect and assemble data from the system, which can be integrated into any building management system to provide 24-7 data collection, analysis and remote alarm notification.
