Chinese battery maker Chilwee Group (also known as Chaowei) has created a new company with electronics firm General Electric Company(GE) to bring to market a Na-NiCl battery for energy storage applications.
Chilwee and GE aim to develop the proprietary technology through production, research, and marketing of the so called Zebra Battery, originally developed in the UK.
A statement on Chilwee’s website said: “Chilwee group has made a wise choice to cooperate with GE company.
“It’s focus on the implementation of research and development, production and sales of the new type battery, to conserve energy in an environmental, efficient, cheaper way, and leading the industry market.
“It is the significant step to implement two strategic paths.”
The Chinese firm recently launched a lead-acid battery that uses graphene to boost performance.
