Power generation equipment manufacturer Cummins is supplying the gensets to US company National Railway Equipment Company (NREC), for its contract to supply seven multi-engine locomotives to Pacific National, Australia.
The trains will be for industrial applications at a steelworks in New South Wales, Australia.
The locomotives will have a nominal power rating of 1.19MW, derived from two Cummins gensets.
The order is due to be delivered in mid-2014 to replace the previous ageing fleet.
