Exide Technologies has renewed its DNV type approval certification for Exide Marine & Leisure Gel, AGM and EFB batteries. This certification underscores the continued safety, reliability, and high performance of these batteries, confirming their suitability for a broad range of marine vessels.
The renewed DNV certificate is valid until December 2029 and covers a range of Exide marine and leisure batteries, including its Start AGM, Dual AGM, Equipment AGM and Equipment GEL.
It is evaluated every two years to ensure compliance with the DNV’s strict requirements, and means its batteries are approved to be installed on a wide range of vessels, including ships, offshore units, high-speed vessels and light crafts.
The firm claims that its marine batteries are engineered for the harsh conditions of marine environments and can handle several applications, including safe engine starting and power supply for onboard electrical systems.
DNV is an authority in the maritime sector and provides testing, certification and technical consulting across the energy value chain, including renewables, oil and gas, and energy management.
Guido Scanagatta, director product management and application automotive, Exide Technologies, said, “Exide serves as an original-equipment supplier to numerous boat and marine-vessel makers. These manufacturers rely on the quality and dependability of Exide’s products. Achieving DNV type approval once again highlights our commitment to excellence and consistency, providing a trusted solution for boat owners and vessel operators seeking dependable onboard power while meeting the highest international standards.”
