George Oliver (pictured) is to take over as chairman and CEO of battery giant Johnson Controls International in September— six months ahead of schedule.
Oliver, currently JCI’s president and chief operating officer, will succeed Alex Molinaroli, who joined the company in 1983 and prior to his current position served as president of JCI’s Power Solutions business.
JCI’s director of global media relations, Fraser Engerman, told BBB the move would enable Oliver to forge ahead with the company’s integration with Tyco, following their merger last September.
The planned leadership change was announced last year. JCI declined to comment on Molinaroli’s plans for the future.
Juergen Tinggren, the newly-appointed lead independent director of JCI’s board said: “Given the progress made on the merger integration as we approach the one-year anniversary and upcoming start of a new fiscal year, this is an opportune and appropriate time to implement this planned leadership succession.”
