Eaton is working with Portland General Electric (PGE) on an electrical energy storage system for the Salem Smart Power Centre, a five MW lithium-ion facility in Oregon, US.
The system is part of PGE’s work to demonstrate the benefits, in terms of reliability and energy efficiency, that the integration of renewable energy sources and demand-response technology offer to the grid.
Eaton has provided power management to the 8 000-sq foot site including the design, engineering, integration and testing. The site features Eaton’s Power Xpert inverters that are designed to maximise the energy harvested from renewable resources to use as clean reliable AC power.
“Eaton’s power management expertise and industry-leading solutions are helping PGE advance the electrical infrastructure and test new smart grid technologies with business and residential customers,” said Bill Miller, Global Marketing Director for Eaton Electrical Service and Systems.
The project in Salem is part of the Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project for customers in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
