Canadian battery maker Electrovaya has launched a higher density lithium nickel manganese cobalt battery onto the electric mobility and energy storage markets.
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Litarion GmbH, the company’s new LITACELLTM, LC-44 uses NMC/graphite based electrode chemistry to deliver 44Ah in the same geometry as the company’s 40Ah variety.
The company says it can reach up to 9,000 cycles at 1C charge and 1C discharge at 100% depth of discharge.
The new model is available to OEMs and battery pack integrators, with first deliveries due in the last quarter of this year.
Dr. Joerg Reim, chief technical officer, Litarion, said: “The increased energy density of the LC-44 reduces material and other production costs while giving higher energy capacity in the same volume and same geometrical package as the LC-40.”
Dr. Pia Kuesgens, manager, business development at Litarion, said he believed the technology should become the industry standard for the electric mobility and energy storage markets.
