Enersys, the US-based energy storage company, was awarded Data Centre Backup Power Solution of the Year for 2025 at the Data Centre Review (DCR) excellence awards show for what it calls the most impactful innovations across the data centre sector.
It was given to company representatives in attendance at the OXO Tower in London, where the award show was held by the media outlet Data Centre Review.
The firm, which sponsored the DCR award show, said the data centre sector is changing quickly especially with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The need for sustainability, performance and uptime are also issues said to affect the sector.
Enersys attributes the award being given to innovation in smart technology, which includes the smartphone app that is said to act as a monitor for its thin plate pure lead (TPPL) battery. This is said to provide real-time visibility of critical battery parameters.
The award is also attributed to the increased reliability of the TPPL batteries, which the firm claims protect against downtime.
The company also believes it won the DCR excellence award claiming it allows data centres to run with cleaner energy. This includes hitting changing energy efficiency targets and European regulatory requirements.
Michael Sagar, director of marketing for energy systems, Enersys, said: “Receiving this prestigious award in the category of Data Centre Backup Power Solution of the Year, confirms that EnerSys is a leader in the data centre sector. This win goes beyond product innovation, it reflects our commitment to helping data centres thrive in an increasingly complex environment.”
