US metal-hydrogen energy storage company EnerVenue said it is to supply a 25MWh order of its Energy Storage Vessels (ESVs) to a major energy project for its client, High Caliber Energy.
It will form part of a large residential energy storage project in Florida.
Delivery will be by Q4 2024. The company said the ESVs will primarily be used to provide load levelling and frequency regulation.
This is the second generation of EnerVenue’s metal-hydrogen battery technology. The company said ESVs have an expected lifetime of 30 years / 30,000 cycles, deliver 86% capacity after 30,000 cycles, and can cycle up to three times per day without rest. The ESV, designed for stationary energy storage applications, measures 142mm x 1806mm and features a nominal energy capacity of 1200Wh.
In March, EnerVenue announced plans to open a one-million-square-foot gigafactory in Shelby County, Kentucky to make its ESVs. The plant will be sited in the heart of Kentucky’s manufacturing region and is expected to create 450 full-time jobs during the initial opening and first phase of production.
Shelby County offered EnerVenue a long-term incentive package of property and wage tax rebates totalling $20 million over 25 years. The state of Kentucky also offered EnerVenue more than $10.3 million in tax incentives for the first phase, the company said.
