Energy giant GDF Suez has appointed Judith Hartmann, currently finance chief at media group Bertelsmann, as chief financial officer.
Hartmann will start in her new position at the Franco-Belgian company in March. She will replace Isabelle Kocher, who was promoted to the role of deputy chief executive at the power group in October.
GDF Suez announced last year that it wants to shift its main markets to more environmentally friendly markets. Last month, the utility ordered a zinc-air battery energy storage system from US startup Eos Energy Storage (Eos) to install and test the unit at GDF Suez’s research and development facility in Linkebeek, Belgium. The company also joined Eos’ Genesis programme, a collaborative effort designed to optimise, demonstrate and deploy the zinc-air system.
