Inorganic battery technology firm Innolith has appointed Stefan Knupfer as the chairman of its board to lead the roll-out of its lithium-ion electric vehicle batteries.
Knupfer, a senior partner at consultancy firm McKinsey & Company, will oversee Innolith’s launch strategy for a series of batteries for automotive, marine and transportation applications.
Last year the firm built and tested 310Wh/kg sample cells based on NMC and graphite electrodes using its proprietary electrolyte designed to the 21700 cylindrical format.
Knupfer replaces Konstantin Solodovnikov, who will continue serving on the board of Innolith and in his role as chief executive officer.
Solodovnikov said: “Stefan joins Innolith at an exciting time, where we are beginning industrialisation of our newly-developed battery technology that could radically alter the landscape for electric vehicles in the next few years. Stefan’s deep experience in the automotive sector and global e-mobility will be invaluable in guiding Innolith to commercial success.”
Knupfer is McKinsey & Company’s Global Leader of City Mobility/Transportation Special Initiative.
