Ultracapacitor Ioxus has launched a high-temperature ultracapacitor that uses titan technology.
The ultracapacitor is designed for automotive and transport applications. According to New York-based Ioxus, the product is able to operate at temperature ranges of -40 to 85 °C, and deliver 2.7V at these temperatures.
“This 85°C performance benchmark required us to make significant advances in the fundamental science behind ultracapacitor performance. Titan encompasses the fields of electrochemistry, surface chemistry and physical chemistry,” said George Lane, director of research at Ioxus.
Ioxus compared its product to ultracap competitors such as Maxwell Technologies and claimed that it outperforms comparable products at extreme temperatures.
“The titan line of products is designed to provide customers with the confidence that choosing Ioxus will ensure their products will be durable and high performing even in the most demanding environments,” said Ioxus’ vice president of marketing and product management Chad Hall.
The company recently conducted a durability test of the ultracapacitor on a hybrid bus.
