Lithium-ion smart energy cells manufacturer Oakridge Global Energy Solutions has established a joint venture with a Japanese firm to make battery management systems.
The US based company, which makes cells for military, civilian and medical applications, will work with Toyo-System to design and manufacture BMSs for its Generation 2 Smart Energy Cell.
Steve Barber, CEO and executive chairman of Oakridge, said: “Our joint venture with Toyo-System of Japan further extends the important strategic alliances with our Japanese partners.”
Oakridge launched the Generation 2 Smart Energy Cell at the beginning of August this year, and hopes to have it in commercial production by Q4 of 2016.
The company is aiming to launch other lithium-ion smart energy cell products and product revisions in the third quarter of 2016.
