Engineering, construction and procurement company J&V Energy Technology is to set up Taiwan’s largest energy storage system with an installed capacity of 100 megawatts.
A report in DigiTimes Asia said construction is to begin at the end of 2022. The energy storage system will be completed in the second half of 2023 and come into operation for the state-run Taiwan Power Company to provide automatic frequency control ancillary services via its energy trading platform.
Leo Ho, Operation Manager at J&V, told BEST magazine the company would not provide technical details due to non-disclosure agreements with project partners.
The company engages in the development, investment, maintenance, and operation management of renewable energy power plants. Its services cover energy storage, wind power generation, electricity sales platform, water resources, and biomass power generation.
According to Taiwanese government plans, the cumulative total installed capacity for renewable energy in Taiwan will increase to 27 gigawatts in 2025. The company said the increasing connection of intermittent renewable energy to local grids will lead to unstable power supply systems. J&V Energy aims to develop more energy storage systems to join its energy trading platform.
J&V Energy will complete a PV power-generating station with an installed capacity of 123MWp for fishery and electricity symbiosis in southern Taiwan at the end of 2022. It will be the largest of its kind in Taiwan, according to DigiTimes Asia.
