Lebanon is reportedly issued a call for developers to build a series of battery energy storage systems in the country as part of a solar power project.
The Lebanese Centre for Energy Conservation (LCEC) has called for expressions of interest to develop 300MW of grid-connected photovoltaic projects with battery storage.
LCEC is said to be looking for a total of three solar PV projects with 210MW to 300MW of BESS at various locations across the country— with the aim of having the solar plants connected to the grid by 2019.
Each of the plants would deliver power to the grid operated by the country’s EDL utility.
Lebanon is the latest Middle East nation to map out plans for energy storage deployment. BBB reported last month that Jordan’s government had agreed on proposals for a $40 million BESS facility.
