Energy storage company Fimer and Indian start-up Replus Engitech have partnered to deliver a mobile lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in India.
The fully portable system can be transported by truck to remote and off-grid locations, such as mining areas, for power generation where access to conventional infrastructure is limited or non-existent.
It can also be used as an alternative to diesel generators.
The system has a charging capacity of 72kW and is powered by a 640kWHr lithium-ion battery.
The first containerised system was commissioned last month in Pune, India.
The system, which was developed by Fimer for Replus, includes the former’s MGS100-120kW ‘microgrid’. The system is formed from an integrated solar PV and battery energy storage converter with an additional AC input. It can be used with lead-acid and lithium-ion chemistries.
Italian firm Fimer was bought by McLaren Applied Group in January.
