Nexans has introduced low voltage cable called Distingo that makes electricians’ work more efficient by using length and colour markings.
The cable is for fixed U1000 R2V installations, with cross-sections from 1.5 to 16mm² and 1 to 5 conductors. The U 1000 R2V cable category includes a range of products used by electrical installers inside office and industrial buildings to wire outlets and lighting equipment, power machinery and distribution of electricity from power meters.
The length marking makes it easier to cut precise lengths and keep the length value and the number visible at both ends of the cable and the increment direction indicated with + and – signs. This allows the remaining cable length to be read quickly and easily on the drum or coil of cable.
The distinctive colouring system of the Distingo cable comes in six available cross sections for the outer sheath 1.5, 2.5, 4, 6, 10, and 16mm2 marked with a coloured stripe to allow for instant identification and reduce errors made at installation. The coil wrappings have also been redesigned to save time at storage facilities and distribution centres by allowing fast and accurate checks of orders to be made.
U-1000 R2V cables are widely used in the construction industry, they account for 40% of cables used in the overall market and make up €500 million of sales in France per annum.
The cables are manufactured in France and currently available on the French market.
