Lithium battery developer and manufacturer Oakridge Global Energy Solutions (OGES) is expanding manufacturing capabilities at its Melbourne and Palm Bay facilities in Florida, US.
OGES has reached an agreement-in-principle to buy automated battery manufacturing equipment capable of producing 2.6 Gigawatt hours per year of lithium-ion prismatic batteries.
The move will expand OGES’ existing production capacity by around five times at its Melbourne and Florida facilities.
OGES Executive Chairman and CEO Steve Barber said the company was aiming to deliver its first batch of equipment to Florida by December, with follow-on deliveries each month until the order is completed.
Barber added: “With 10 additional, state-of-the-art, fully automated mixing and coating lines with a capability of more than 500 metres per minute of electrode manufacturing capacity, coupled with an additional 10 automated cell assembly lines, OGES is kicking off a new era in battery manufacturing.”
To boost OGES’ plans of dominating the lithium-ion industry the company has secured agreements with CBX Electronics and BESTCREWS to bolster its Sales and Marketing team.
CBX Electronics (Orlando, Florida) and their eight staff join the Oakridge in-house Sales and Marketing team.
More than 50 inside and outside sales staff from BESTCREWS (Tokyo, Japan) team will join Oakridge Sales and Marketing to bolster its reach in both the US and Japanese markets.
Full details of the long-term supply agreement are still being finalised with the unnamed lithium-ion equipment manufacturer.
