Germany’s move into the North American energy storage system market is gathering pace as European energy storage provider Sonnebatterie teamed up with US’s Ideal Power.
The pair are set to launch a lithium-ion ESS for the North American commercial market based on a 30kW and 24kWh building block.
Sonnenbatterie is to use Ideal Power’s power conversion systems for integration with its commercial lithium-ion battery system.
The product includes ESSs from 24 kWh to 240 kWh, which will be used for demand reduction for commercial and industrial applications.
Back in April Sonnebatterie entered into a partnership with US solar company Sungevity. Sungevity now offers Sonnenbatterie smart ESSs to its network of customers in the US and Europe.
Then in June, Sonnebatterie nailed its colours to the ESS mast by announcing it was to open a 5,000 sq. ft research and development facility in Atlanta, Georgia.
The facility will house up to 15 engineers tasked with expanding the company’s next generation of smart energy storage devices for homes and businesses.
