A string of company announcements came from Chinese PV heavyweights at Germany’s recent Intersolar Europe / ees Europe trade event.
- JinkoSolar signed its first European energy storage solution (ESS) framework agreement with German solar and energy storage wholesaler Memodo. The products include an all-in-one system, and a stackable low-voltage and high-voltage storage system. A single or three-phase hybrid inverter is also included. The products will be sold exclusively by Memodo in Germany, Switzerland and Austria in 2022 and 2023. The power storage devices all come with lithium iron phosphate batteries and are compatible with well-known inverters.
- JinkoSolar also signed a distribution agreement with Must Zimbabwe. It is one of the biggest distributors of photovoltaic modules, inverters, batteries and energy storage systems in Zimbabwe. JinkoSolar will supply over 100MWh of its ESS products to Must. This includes lithium iron phosphate battery system units for residential use and LFP container storage systems for C&I power demand.
- Trina Storage launched its Elementa BESS, focussing on safety features and cell performance. It is an LFP BESS system in a DC cabinet with a busbar connection. It allows easy upscaling. Trina Storage has an annual LFP cell production capacity of 3GWh and plans to scale this up.
- Huawei announced all-new smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions. The new Smart String ESS addresses conventional solutions’ limited capacity, short service life, complex O&M, and alleged high safety risks. It adopts pack-level and rack-level optimisation, distributed cooling and modular design. That enables full battery charging and discharging potential and optimal LCOS for PV plants.
