Axion Power files for bankruptcy as China deal hope fails

Lead-carbon battery maker Axion Power International has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the US.

The chairman and CEO of the Pennsylvania-based firm, Richard Bogan (pictured), said the decision had been taken after pursuing “unsuccessful endeavours”— and failing to clinch a deal with one China's largest lead-acid battery manufacturers, Fengfan Co.

Stop-start lead-carbon technology under investigation in European tests

Testing to see how battery maker Axion Power International’s lead-carbon technology handles ‘real world’ driving conditions is due to begin this month.

The US firm has already shipped its PbC® Batteries to the Battery Innovation Centre of MOBI Research Group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Free University of Brussels)in Belgium.

Lead-carbon energy storage firm Axion Power International's high level management has seen three changes in as many months.

Last month Stanley Hirschman resigned as director and chairman and member of the US company’s Audit Committee due to his ‘inability to devote the time and resources necessary to continue in his role as a director’.

World’s largest lithium nickel manganese ESS deployed to provide frequency control

US firm Axion Power International is set to install a lead-carbon off-grid energy system following a deal with Schneider Electric and fellow American firm Tennessee Solar Solutions.

The system will store energy from renewable sources to power a mobile sustainability laboratory developed by Tennessee based company Urban Green Lab.

LOI paves way for Axion to target Chinese market

Advanced lead-carbon PbC® batteries developer Axion Power International has signed a Letter of Intent with LCB International.

LCB, whose principal business office is in China, will now manufacture and sell Axion’s products on an exclusive basis in China, Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong.
