Redflow receives second order as its zinc bromine flow batteries prove worth in off-grid telecom project

Australian energy storage company Redflow Limited has received an additional order for its ZBM2 zinc-bromine flow batteries following the successful deployment of its technology by New Zealand’s Rural Connectivity Group (RCG).

The second order of 10 systems follows the successful installation and commissioning of the company’s ZBM2 batteries at two RCG towers in remote locations in New Zealand last December.

NZ opts for Tesla as battery battle hots up Down Under

Tesla is to supply New Zealand with the same battery tech it has installed in South Australia as an antipodean battle of the batteries hots up.

New Zealand’s majority state-owned electricity generator, Mercury NZ, has selected Tesla to provide the battery for what it said will be the country’s “first” national grid connected battery trial.

ESS a “game-changer” for NZ, study says

Building energy storage systems across New Zealand would represent an economic “game-changer” for the country within the next few years, according to new research by national grid owner-operator Transpower.

The company said its research findings show distribution-connected or community-scale batteries are expected to be economic for homes and business from 2020— promising “real potential and benefits from batteries for New Zealand consumers”.
