Johnson Controls is in early talks with industrial battery-making giant EnerSys over a possible buy-out, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The report said Johnson had been trying to move away from its automotive seating and interiors businesses to focus on higher-margin battery operations.
No one from Johnson or EnerSys would confirm the deal.
Pennsylvania, US-based EnerSys describes itself as the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of industrial batteries, posting sales of £2.5 billion last year.
In July, BEST reported that EnerSys had bought Australia- based ICS Industries, a maintenance and installation company.
The company also announced that CEO John D. Craig would step down in March 2016 to be replaced by David M. Shaffer.
