In what looked a somewhat corporate decision, the Florida International Battery Seminar and its owners, Cambridge Enertech, have bestowed the Shep Wolsky Battery Innovator Award on a company, rather an individual— in the form of Maxwell Technologies.
The award— for dry electrode technology— perhaps received an even greater accolade earlier in the year from Tesla Motors, which signed a deal to acquire Maxwell.
Dry electrode technology, while not yet in production, is seen as an enabling technology to increase battery efficiency. Wolsky, who founded the Florida battery event more than 30 years ago, died in 2017.
