Fri, 03/08/2013 - 17:36 -- Ruth Williams

Schneider Electric has signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation to develop energy efficient housing in Russia. Lafarge, a cement producer, Saint-Gobain, a specialist in the habitat and construction markets, and A_Priori, a Russian project bureau, also signed the LOI.

It outlines the companies’ motives for contributing specialist knowledge and materials for the Energy Efficient Houses pilot project in Moscow. Work has already begun on the project for energy consumption under 35KWH/m2.yr. The second project to be realised in the framework of the Energy Efficient Houses is the multi-storey house, which is currently in pre-design phase.

Jean-Louis Stasi, President of Schneider Electric Russia and CIS said: “The combination of vast experience of our partners in passive energy efficiency with Schneider Electric expertise in active one allows making this project a showcase of efficiency. We believe that the best way to generate energy is to save energy. We are able to reduce electricity bills up to 30 percent with our technologies. On top of that, it contributes to reducing emissions. By integrating our ideas into our solutions, we will build the new energy efficient future together”.

Schneider Electric will provide expertise in energy management, including power distribution, energy monitoring, fire alarm system, video surveillance and critical power supply for building management systems, cable management systems, wiring devices and light automation. The other partners’ expertise will cover house design support and advice, thermal bridge avoidance, energy efficiency calculations and building materials knowledge. A_Priori will coordinate the efforts and act as architectural concept author and general designer.
