Lithium Australia makes play for battery cathode tech

Lithium Australia (LIT) has made a conditional bid to acquire Brisbane battery cathode developer Very Small Particle Company Ltd (VSPC).

The proposed acquisition includes a decommissioned pilot plant for the production of complex metal oxides/phosphates for cathode production.

Neometals to pilot lithium battery recycling process

Canada-based Neometals is set to build a pilot plant to accelerate the commercialisation of the company’s technology to recycle lithium-ion batteries.

Neometals has co-developed a technology to economically recover high-value cobalt (99.2% recovery) as a material that can be recycled within the battery manufacturing chain.

Mining firm Australian Vanadium is celebrating this week after achieving two milestones in its energy storage strategy.

The company has produced its first batch of vanadium catholyte from the pilot plant it installed last year at the University of Western Australia.

Australian firm moves closer to vanadium flow battery

Materials company Australian Vanadium’s (AVL) vertical integration model has moved a step closer after its first flow battery left the factory and work on its pilot plant began.

Installation and commissioning of Western Australia’s first vanadium flow battery is due in September after the battery left GILDEMEISTER’s Austrian factory last week.
