Chemical free graphite process could lead to cheaper lithium-ion anode material

Graphite from Magnis Energy Technologies’ mine in Tanzania could allow the firm to produce some of the lowest cost graphite anode material for the lithium-ion battery market .

Natural graphite produced from the company’s Nachu Graphite Project can be turned into a high performing anode material without any chemical, acid or thermal purification, which cuts overall manufacturing costs say the company.

Gravita launches lead production in Tanzania

Indian lead producer and recycler Gravita has started commercial production of lead from its new battery scrap recycling plant in Tanzania, East Africa.

The company said its Gravita Tanzania subsidiary has a production capacity of around 3,000 metric tonnes per annum and the facility is the group’s first “export oriented recycling plant” in the country.

Gravita confirms lead processing expansion in Africa

Indian lead producer and exporter Gravita has confirmed plans to expand its lead-acid battery scrap processing operations overseas with two new facilities in Africa.

Gravita said it has acquired land for a plant in Ghana and “construction activities are in process” with a view to starting operations by March 2019.
