Recyclekaro, the India-based lithium-ion battery recycler, has launched a new direct-to-consumer platform called ReLoop with the aim of making recycling e-waste more accessible.
The platform, which was announced on World Environment Day, is intended to allow Indian citizens, households or communities to schedule pickups and donate or responsibly sell electronics.
The firm said it is developing an app with all these functions, as well as social features to encourage recycling and show the personal impact made by it. It includes a point system redeemable for vouchers from partner brands.
Less than 20% of the 3.5 million tonnes of e-waste generated per year in India gets recycled, according to the firm.
It will also support corporate and social responsibility-linked e-waste recycling drives for corporate and institutional partners, digital certificates and an analytics dashboard.
Reloop is said to use AI-powered tools including image recognition to sort items, intelligence for routing, and real-time reporting for optimising the backend operations.
The app is debuting in Hyderabad, and will expand to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Dehli NCR as reported by CIOL.
Recyclekaro said it has recovered valuable materials from lithium-ion batteries including nickel, cobalt, copper, lithium and graphite. It claims to have diverted more than 3,400 tonnes of battery waste from landfill annually.
Rajesh Gupta, founder and director, Recyclekaro, said: “With Reloop, we’re empowering citizens to become active participants in the recycling ecosystem. Our goal is to make responsible disposal of e-waste and batteries as easy, rewarding, and routine as ordering groceries or booking a cab. With Reloop, we’re turning everyday recycling into a habit—simple, convenient, and meaningful.”
