Automotive Cells Company (ACC) and Prologium Technology said they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate in the development of electric vehicle (EV) solid-state batteries.
They will service customers based on Prologium’s solid-state battery technology.
Earlier this year, ACC confirmed the construction of its first Gigafactory in Billy-Berclau (Hauts-de-France). It aims to achieve an installed capacity of 120 GWh in Europe by 2030.
Prologium has also confirmed the search for its first overseas Gigafactory site for next-generation solid-state batteries in Asia, Europe, or US. It has been in discussion with multiple agencies in these regions, it said. Investment in the new factory will total US$8bn over the next decade. The factory is expected to be one of Europe’s biggest gigafactories, with a three-phase construction and an annual capacity target of 120 GWh when the third phase is completed.
It claims to be the first battery company in the world to mass-produce solid-state lithium ceramic batteries.
ACC is an initiative by Stellantis and TotalEnergies (with its subsidiary Saft) and joined by Mercedes-Benz.
