Battery recycler and battery materials company Cirba Solutions has teamed up with lithium-ion battery cathode materials company Ecopro Co, which will produce precursor cathode active material (PCAM) and cathode active material (CAM).
Ecopro said it will use Cirba’s recycled materials to make PCAM and CAM for the EV battery market. It is increasingly using recycled material, it said. Cirba, based in the US, has logistics and collection networks forming part of the deal, signed in a memorandum of understanding.
Jay Wago, chief commercial officer at Cirba, said: “Working with a world-renowned team like Ecopro supports the expansion of an interconnected battery supply chain.”
South Korean Ecopro has two main business areas, environment and secondary battery materials. In 2017, a unit called EcoPro Materials was founded to secure a stable supply chain of precursors for Ecopro BM, a physical division specialising in cathode materials.
Danielle Spalding of Cirba said the two companies are expecting to work on a variety of projects. Financial details were not disclosed.
