Dutch battery company LeydenJar said it will build its first factory at Strijp-T in Eindhoven. It will have annual capacity of 70MWh and make pure silicon anode density batteries.
It said the anodes have 70% higher energy density than conventional anodes and are up to 10x thinner.
The factory, PlantOne, is due to open in 2026. It was once a Philips manufacturing facility and is being renovated. It will focus initially on consumer electronics but plans to expand into the EV sector.
LeydenJar’s CEO Christian Rood said: “Eindhoven’s dynamic environment fosters synergy between universities, research institutes and industrial companies, from which we can benefit in our current growth phase.”
