Novonix has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sanyo Electric to supply graphite anode material for use in lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
The Australian firm’s wholly-owned subsidiary, PUREgraphite executed the non-binding MoU to investigate becoming a supplier to the Japanese battery maker Sanyo.
The deal follows sampling and testing in Japan, with the companies continuing to evaluate PUREgraphite’s material — through exchanging samples, testing and feedback—for possible use in electric vehicles and/or energy storage systems.
Novinix’s managing director, Philip Baker, said he hoped the collaboration would progress positively and, whilst non-binding, prove to be a key step in potentially establishing a long-term supply arrangement.
