Philippine Airlines (PAL) has joined a growing number of airlines to no longer accepting lithium-ion batteries as cargo.
The airline is the fourth international company this year to impose the ban on battery shipments due to potential fire hazards.
Cathay Pacific, United Airlines and Delta Airlines have already banned shipment of lithium-ion batteries. More here
Batteries packed with, or contained in equipment, are exempt from the ban – provided regulatory requirements on packaging and labeling are complied with, PAL said.
However, passengers are banned form carrying-on, checking baggage or cargo shipment of recalled or damaged batteries.
