Not to be outdone by fellow technology rivals dipping a toe in the battery sector, Google is researching lithium-ion technology, according to Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.
A group headed by former Apple Inc. battery expert Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj is looking into batteries to power Google’s expansion into consumer electronics and other hardware, claimed WSJ.
Dr. Bhardwaj’s group is aiming to advance current lithium-ion technology and next-generation solid-state batteries for consumer and medical devices.
The four-man team, originally brought together to research batteries used in Google devices, is part of the Google X research lab, said the report. See the NAATbatt report in the Spring issue of BEST magazine, now available on our website here
In recent years Google has moved into areas requiring battery power such as self-drive car, high-tech glasses or its project ‘Loon’.
