Gotion High-tech inaugurated its first battery pack production at its Fremont, US, factory just before the new year. It said this is another important milestone.
The Chinese company also has battery and materials production in Illinois and Michigan.
The Fremont plant, located in Silicon Valley, has planned lithium battery production capacity of 1GWh and an automation rate of up to 85%, according to the company.
The new factory is aimed at the Americas’ ESS market and will mainly produce portable energy storage products and residential energy storage products. Capacities will range from 3kWh to 30kWh, it said.
It will continue technological and product innovation, business development and service upgrades.
Li Chen, SVP of Gotion and President of Gotion Americas Business, said the establishment of the Silicon Valley Research Institute in 2014 marked the starting point for Gotion’s internationalisation.
Gotion follows an ‘in local, for local’ principle. “For the past decade, we have consistently adhered to a three-in-one strategy featuring localised research and development, localised manufacturing, and localised marketing,” he said. That applies from the initial development of battery management systems to the present battery factory.
